"David Bishop, president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, announced in a memo to staffers Jan. 27 that he was restructuring his executive team, in order to “streamline decision-making, increase accountability and innovation, and focus on strategic and analytic thinking.”

Among those leaving are Marshall Forster, senior EVP North America since 2006 and a 17-year veteran of the company.

Matt Brown, EVP of international, will add oversight of North American operations to his responsibilities.

John Calkins moves over from Sony Pictures Entertainment’s corporate development arm to take the newly created position of EVP of Global Digital and Commercial innovation for SPHE, with SPHE worldwide digital distribution and business affairs groups reporting to him.

EVP Bob Rubin is also leaving SPHE.

Sean Carey, EVP of digital distribution and licensing, will move out of SPHE to another Sony position.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s advanced technologies group headed by Don Eklund will move out of the home entertainment arm into Sony Pictures Technologies, under the watch of that division’s president Chris Cookson.

“Our choice is simple – we can make strategic choices today to direct the evolution of our business, or be overwhelmed by changes that are imposed on us by forces outside of our control,” Bishop’s memo read.

Sony Pictures Entertainment began a series of layoffs across its divisions in March, a response to the changing economic landscape of the entertainment business."
